Sometimes we limit the number of each crop based upon what our crop estimate will be. That's basically a fail-safe to make sure we aren't promising our shareholders produce we don't have. When our customization system allocates a box, the system will spread out all items amongst all the boxes depending on people's preferences. This leaves the remainder of items left over for people to add to their boxes. The first shareholders to go online and start customizing tend to run into this problem: with such limited quantity left over, they sometimes cannot add more of what they want to their boxes.

As the day goes on, more produce becomes available as other shareholders decide what they want and release items back into our system. So, for example, as people decide they'd rather have carrots than sweet peppers, more sweet peppers becomes available. When we know that items will be in high demand or that they're very bulky to ship, we limit the amount to try to give everybody access to some.
